Surfing With Nixon!

What is Surfing With Nixon

Surfing with Nixon is a nonprofit organization that gives Autistic Kids in Arizona a chance to surf as a form of water therapy. Surfing give these kids sensory input and teaches them to control their bodies in and out of the water at the same time bringing families together who are dealing with the same similar experiences.

How It Started

My son, Nixon, was born with Cerebral Palsy and Autism and for the last four years he has been on a waiting list for physical therapy, horse therapy, and swimming therapy. Therapy is essential to children with Autism. So two years ago I bought a season pass to Big Surf and he loved it, to where he didn't even want to get out when we were done. After this experience I looked into surfing events in California, again being told there is a three year waiting list. This lead me to talk with some friends of mine about doing an event here at Big Surf Waterpark in Tempe, AZ. The event brings in professional surfers from Hawaii and California and they donate their time to help with, and teach these children. They teach them how to surf, while giving them valuable therapy that is very much needed. I can tell you the positive results of water therapy are amazing. Please join us in supporting our Fourth Annual Surfing with Nixon event scheduled for August 25, 2017, from 1pm to 8pm, at Big Surf Water Park in Tempe, AZ. I can't wait to see you there and meet you.
