“When you talk about full-on sensory experiences, surfing’s one of those things that kind of takes the cake. As children and adults with autism often deal with forms of sensory processing dysfunction, surfing — and, really, time in the ocean —  has been found to be extremely therapeutic and calming for persons with autism. Organizations like Surfers Healing figured this out nearly two decades ago and have been taking children with autism into the surf, seeing some incredible results. Surfers Healing now has surf camps the world-over for children and adults on all ends of the autism spectrum.

Another very exciting organization for kids with autism living in a land-locked state like Arizona — is Surfing With Nixon (SWN). SWN recently held their fifth epic event at the Big Surf Waterpark wavepool in Tempe, Arizona for over 240 children on the spectrum, with the likes of Josh Kerr and fam helping out.”
